Idea for Thought

Women are replacing their leggings with designer boyfriend jeans, their heels with Oxfords, and their booty shorts for a more tailored, high-waisted look. Just when we think that fashion can't get any shorter and sexier, it takes a turn to give us a nice big surprise.

The defined gender lines that at one time segregated fashion, are now, dissipating with the uprise of trends that merge masculine and feminine looks and I have to say that I am a big follower of this.

I believe women grabbed onto this fashion trend quite quickly because it is a way for the woman to feel magnificent and a way for her to feel a sense of empowerment and equality. It is a way for the woman to express her inner tomboy who always danced in the background of her dolls, makeup, and dance videos.

To my amazement, men love this trend as much as women do. It gives them something different to look at and accept. The over the top, I am trying so-hard-for-you type of look is DONE and the naturalness of a woman is much more appreciated… And plus, what is more intriguing for a man than a woman in slightly baggier clothes...it leaves some room for the imagination and keeps their adrenaline pumping. (Ladies, big hint!)

I'd have to say my biggest two faves of this trend are the Boyfriend jeans and Oxfords. I am all about Oxfords right now. They can be worn with shift dresses, skirts, tailored shorts or jeans.

Staying in touch with the latest trends, Volatile has created some really cute Oxford inspired shoes for the Fall 2010. I have listed two below for you to see. One is just a basic Oxford called the Marlena and the Other is the Outlaw and is an Oxford inspired wedge for those of you who need some height!! Enjoy.

And let's not forget to say thank you to the designer who was first responsible for  introducing Menswear inspired clothing to women, Coco Chanel.
